Edith Dejean

Opelousas Funeral services for Edith Waters DeJean will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. The Reverend Perry Hubbs will officiate the service.

Mrs. DeJean, age 88, a resident of Lafayette, LA, formerly of Opelousas, LA, died on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the Cornerstone Village Nursing Home in Lafayette, LA.

Edith worked as a bank teller for 40 years and was a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Young at Heart and Prime Time Senior Friends. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Frederick W. DeJean of Lafayette, LA her daughter Deborah Anne DeJean Riopel and husband, Paul R. Riopel, of St. Albert, Alberta, Canada one grandchild, Christina Stagg and husband, Christopher H. Stagg, of Cypress, Texas and 3 greatgrandchildren, Ethan Stagg, Chloe Stagg and Miles Stagg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick DeJean her parents, Jack W and Effie Tapp Waters her brother, Harold Waters and her sister, Mary Glyn Lytal.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Saturday, February 9, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
