Edell Devillier

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Edell Decou Devillier on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Reverend Bill Miller will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. Readers will be Riley Hoffpauir and Ellie Adams and the gift bearers will be Billie Jo Thibodaux and Dawn Spinella.

Ms. Edell, age 89, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

Edell worked until her retirement as a waitress at the Little Chef in Opelousas and Stelly's Restaurant in Lebeau. She loved animals, working with plants and flowers and caring for her grandchildren. Edell will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Matherine (Gus); Brenda Sturgis (John); Linda Miller (Carl); Janice Courville (Craig); her brother, Esta Decou and her sisters, Etta Terro (Curtis), Mary Alice Lavergne and Mary Lee Montie. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Dawn Spinella (David), Toby Cortez (Chrissy), Dusty Cortez (Victoria), Billie Jo Thibodaux (Glen), Mickie Miller (Michelle), Sarah Richard and Kelly Adams (Kentry) and twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler Spinella, Jonathan Spinella, Ashlynn Cortez, James Thibodaux, Lance Thibodaux, David Rogillio, Reed Hoffpauir, Riley Hoffpauir, Noah Hoffpauir, Doran Adams, Eli Adams and Ellie Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Julian Devillier, Jr.; her parents, Leo William and Angelina Stelly Decou; her brothers, Joseph Nicholas Decou, Leo William Decou, Jr. and Leo Paul Decou; her sisters, Edith Thibodeaux and Genevieve Stears and great-grandchildren, Cody Michael Thibodaux and Brody James Thibodaux.

Pallbearers will be John Sturgis, Mickie Miller, Carl Miller, Glen Thibodaux, Jonathan Spinella and James Thibodaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Spinella, David Rogillio, Lance Thibodaux, Reed Hoffpauir, Noah Hoffpauir and Eli Adams.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will reopen on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Patrick Gillespie, the staff of Senior Village Nursing Home and the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care.
