Melville- Funeral services for Eddie Walter Joffrion, Jr, age 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, in the United Methodist Church in Melville, LA. Reverend Adam Campbell, Reverend Ray Johnson, and Reverend Laurie Raborn will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Episcopal Cemetery in Melville.
Mr. Joffrion, who was a native and lifelong resident of Melville, LA, died on Thursday, July 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Joffrion was a Free Mason and worked as an inspector for the Army Corp of Engineers for 39 years. He was a passionate outdoorsman and houndsman, who loved hunting, fishing, cattle farming, raising and riding horses. Eddie traveled the United States hunting with friends and family. His passion for hunting inspired him to publish "The Hunting Experiences of Eddie W. Joffrion, Jr. Family and Friends- Cajun Style". He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jolie Thomasson Joffrion; sons, Brad Joffrion and wife Tania, Jeff Joffrion and wife Sidney, and Barry Shane Joffrion and wife Danielle; grandchildren, Hillary Joffrion, John Edward Joffrion, Ann Jolie Joffrion, Helene Joffrion, Jillian Joffrion, Holden Walker, Gabrielle Joffrion, Madeline Joffrion and William Joffrion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Walter Joffrion and Marjorie Mercier Joffrion; sister, Wanda "Boots" Harvey and Beverly Mayhall; and brother-in-law, Morgan C. "Doc" Harvey, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Morgan "Clay" Harvey, Greg Mayhall, Eddie Mayhall, Herbert Thomasson, Charles Thomasson, Frank Hanka, and John Edward Joffrion.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Thomasson, Bill Hanka, Charles Leon and Will Joffrion.
Visiting will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville beginning on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
