Earline Garsee

Melville - Funeral Services for Earline Nichols Garsee, 80, a native and resident of Melville, La., will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville. Reverend Ray Johnson will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery in Melville.

Mrs. Garsee passed away Sunday, December 31,2017 surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs. Garsee worked many years at Garan, Inc., a clothing manufacturer in Simmesport, La. before opening Garsee's Florist, her beloved flower shop in Melville which she owned for 11 years. She was a talented florist, enjoyed traveling, taking care of those she loved, and dancing to swamp pop music.

A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, she leaves behind to grieve three children Phillis Marie Garsee of Melville, La., Donald Ray Garsee of Walker, La., and Barbara Garsee Ducote and husband Leo (Teeter) of Palmetto, La.; three grandchildren Heath Duplechain of New Orleans, La., Brooke Ducote Savant and husband Joseph of Conroe, Tx., and Nikki Ducote Reed and husband Rusty of Arnaudville, La.; and two great-grandchildren Laura Mae-Grace Savant and Winter Beth Reed.

Mrs. Garsee was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Ida (Kimble) Nichols of Melville, La., her husband William Garsee of Gorum, La., her brothers David, Clabe, Hillary, Marvin, and George Nichols; sisters Ida Grant and Thelma Naquin, a granddaughter Heather Garsee, and a special niece Rosemary Clark Roubique.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville.

Pallbearers will be Mark Nichols, Bill Nichols, Robert Naquin, Jr., Randy Knight, Bobby Thibodeaux and Devitt Prudhomme.
