A Mass of Christian Burial for Earl Joseph Vidrine, age 72, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 15, 2012, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde, La., followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend Ted Broussard will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.
Mr. Vidrine, a resident of Lawtell, died on Sunday May 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at his residence in Lawtell.
Earl retired from Opelousas General Health System after 23 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include wife of 47 years, Gladys Castille Vidrine of Opelousas, La. his son, David Vidrine and wife, Robin, of Krotz Springs, La. his four grandchildren, Chad Vidrine of Leonville, La. Paul Vidrine of Leonville, La. Lacey Richard and husband, Brad, of Leonville, La. Torie Vidrine of Lawtell, La. two stepgrandchildren, Colby and Chris Fontenot of Krotz Springs, La. and four greatgrandchildren, Brianna and Caleb Richard and Kohl and Ryleigh Vidrine all of Leonville, La. He is also survived by his two sisters, Judy Thomason of Baton Rouge, La. Sally Stears and husband, Billy, of Baton Rouge, La. three brothers, Pat Vidrine and wife, Trudy, of Garland, La. Ronny Vidrine and wife, Theresa, of Lawtell, La. and Terry Vidrine and wife, Tammy, of Port Barre, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirtley and Luna Tate Vidrine and his grandparents, Emile and Cora Barron Tate and Ladis and Lily Soileau Vidrine.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Monday May 14, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. and will remain open all night. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
