D.W. Quirk

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for D.W. Bo Quirk, age 80, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La. Rite of Committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with Reverend Albert Nunez as the celebrant.

Mr. Quirk, a resident of Washington, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at 10:10 a.m. at his residence.

Mr. Quirk was a lifelong resident of Washington. He was born on January 25, 1932. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in Korea with the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Washington State Bank for 36 years. He owned and operated Quirk Insurance Agency for 34 years. He was a Town Councilman and Mayor of Washington. He also was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge and the Cattlemans Association. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Crews Quirk, of Washington, La. his children, Don Quirk and fianc, Paula Dubuc, of Opelousas, La. Fran Quirk Dupre of Opelousas, La. Faith Quirk Moody of Lafayette, La. Gina Lavergne Quirk of Opelousas, La. and Kelly Quirk of Carencro, La. his stepchildren, Courtney Holtz Sonnier of Opelousas, La., Michael and Veronica Holtz of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren, 2 greatgrandchildren and 1 stepgreat grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Louise Quirk his first wife, Ramona Bud Quirk his sons, Lote Quirk and Boyd Quirk his siblings, A.E. Sonny Quirk, Neecie Q. Wartelle and Jane Q. Williamson.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, September 20, 2012, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Don Quirk, Kelly Quirk, Trey Quirk, Tyler Quirk, Michael Holtz, Chris Dupre and honorary pallbearers will be Logan Quebedeaux, Dr. Glen Hunt, Dr. Ronald Lafleur, Raymond Beauxis and Jay Bailey.
