Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. for Dudley Joseph Quebedeaux on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at St. Landry Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. Rev. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Dudley, age 86, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at Magnolia Estates in Lafayette surrounded by his wife and daughters.
He was retired with many years of service as an equipment operator in the oilfield construction industry. He was a talented musician who played numerous instruments including the fiddle and the accordion as well as a vocalist. He would spend his free time being a mechanic by trade, doing woodworking projects, and fishing. He proudly served his country by his dedication of many years as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard. He loved being around his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Viviano Quebedeaux of Opelousas; five daughters, Corlis Fontenot of Port Barre; Donna Vautrot of Opelousas; Karen Quebedeaux of Nuba; Ave McBride and husband, Mark of Lafayette; and Mary Lee Meynig and husband, Marne of Sunset; one brother, James Quebedeaux and wife, Ellen of Gonzales; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Emile Quebedeaux and Adella Moran Quebedeaux; two daughters, Debra Quebedeaux and Jeanne Marie Quebedeaux; one son, Rickey Quebedeaux; twin brother, Dorsey J. Quebedeaux; and two sons-in-law, Billy Fontenot and Frank Vautrot.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Rosary Service will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Magnolia Estates and Heart of Hospice for their wonderful care which was given to Mr. Dudley.
