Duane Heinonen

A funeral service for Duane C. Heinonen, age 49, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. The Reverend Benny Reppond will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mr. Heinonen, who was born in Superior, Wisconsin, died at his Opelousas residence on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
Duane was the coowner of the Brass Rail Lounge in Opelousas with his wife Sandy. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he served as a member of The Old Guard. He was a devoted member of the Opelouas Elks Lodge 1048, where he served as a past officer. In his youth, Duane enjoyed hunting deer with the cousin that he thought of as a brother, Tony Iverson.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Sandy Aucoin Heinonen of Opelousas son, Duane Charles Heinonen, Jr. of Hibbing, MN daughter, Francena Fontenot of Church Point brothers, Mike Heinonen and wife Laurie of Angora, MN and Gary Heinonen and wife Paula of MN sister, Amy Rautie and husband Gordy of Angora, MN and twin sister, Arleen Heinonen as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ester Juntunen Heinonen.
Pallbearers will be Tony Iverson, Chuck Breaux, Tim Fontenot, Martin Ford, Scott Stahl, and Chad Latiolais.
Visiting hours will begin on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 12:00 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until service time.
