Dorothy Morris

Opelousas Funeral services will be held for Dorothy Rivette Morris at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the service. Burial will be held at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris, age 80, a resident of Port Barre, La., died on Wednesday, April 29, 2014, at the St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting and quilting. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shone through her constant smiling, laughter and joking around will never be forgotten.

Survivors are Angie Perkins and husband, Austin, of Opelousas, La. Lee Morris, Jr. and wife, Liz, of Port Barre, La. Alice Cormier and husband, Ross, of Port Barre, La. and her stepson, Charles Gautreaux and wife, Cindy, of Poplarville, Mississippi. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Nicholas Perkins, Jeffrey Morris, Anthony Morris, Courtney Cormier, Sarah Morris, Andy Perkins, Shelley Perkins, Addisen Cormier and one greatgrandchild due in October.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Morris, Sr. her son, Glen A. Morris her parents, Raymond and Gertrude Rivette and her inlaws, Ollie and Ezola Morris.

We would like to personally thank all those who helped care for mom during her times of illness with special thanks to Mary Richard.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
