Dorothy Lafleur

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Harris Lafleur, Sr. the former Dorothy Theresa Sonnier will be held on Monday July 25, 2011 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. The interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass and Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will concelebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Lafleur, age 86, a resident of Opelousas died Saturday July 23, 2011 at Opelousas General Health System. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a member of the choir at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She also belonged to numerous Rosary groups and the Opelousas Community Choir and was manager of the Cutrera Brothers Music Center and Radio Shack.

She is survived by her son Harris Lafleur, Jr. and wife Sharon of Opelousas, daughters Melanie H. Joubert and husband Derrell of Opelousas, Stephanie Quebedeaux and husband Nathan of Opelousas and Gretchen Cheshire and husband Ken of Lafayette, six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband Harris Lafleur, parents Oscar and Melina Ryder Sonnier, brother Joseph Martin Leger and sisters Eleonor Leger Ray, Viola Leger Davy, Mazie Sonnier DeJean, Mae Sonnier Mouret, Florence Sonnier Foreman.

Visitation will be Sunday July 24, 2011 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and will reopen on Monday at 8:00am. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:30pm.
