Lawtell Service for Donald R. Leger, age 64, will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 1:00 pm in the St. Landry Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, La. Father Daniel Picard will conduct Mass of Christian Burial.
Mr. Leger, a resident of Lawtell, La., passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Opelousas General Health System.
Donald worked as a drilling supervisor at Hess Corporation for 26 years. He enjoyed his cattle, hay farming and loved to rodeo with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Angus Cattle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Francis Leger of Lawtell, La.; his son, Donnie Leger of El Paso, Texas; his two daughters, Mona Hendricks and her husband, Dennis, of Church Point, La.; Janet Leger Bellard of Lawtell, La.; his brothers, Clyde Leger of Austin, Texas; Claude Leger of Jennings, La.; his sisters, Lillian Naquin of Midland, Texas and Shirley Roe of Jennings, La. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jacy Douget, Kaleb Douget, Cassie Bellard and Gracie Bellard.
Mr. Leger was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Leger and Theresa Ortego Leger; his brothers, Clarence Leger, Robert Lee Leger and his grandson, Shayne Douget.
Pallbearers will be: Ralph Brumfield, Russell McPhail, Carlton Faul, Glendin Leger, Cleaton Leger and Thomas Leger. The readers will be: Denise Leger and Corda Leger. The gift bearers will be Shirley Roe, Lillian Naquin and Ricky Roe. Music will be performed by Marla Faust.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be held on Saturday.
