Donald Cole

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Donald Ray Cole, on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Austin Leger will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Gift bearers will be Charleen Mallet and Beulah Soileau.

Mr. Cole, age 72, a resident of Prairie Ronde, LA, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Donald owned and operated Donald Cole Paint Contractors for many years. He was a proud Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 5532 of Lawtell, LA. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper who enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed the time he spent visiting with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include wife of 49 years, Mary Constance (Connie) Mire Cole; his son, David Kurt Cole and wife, Melissa; his sisters, Mary Joyce Cole Criswell and husband, Richard, Neva Cole, Patricia Cole and Carolyn Savario and husband, George. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Bethany Vasquez and husband, Mario; Miguel Labbie and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Vasquez and Alex Vasquez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estin Cole and Virgie Wyble; his step-father, Eugene Wyble; his brother, Patrick Cole and his sister, Versie Fontenot.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Miguel Labbie, Wilbert Mire, Mario Vasquez, Charles Dupre, Bubba Ardoin and Shon Wayne Ardoin.
