Dewey Ledoux, Jr.

Prairie Ronde A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph Dewey Ledoux, Jr. at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Chapel. Reverend Father Mark P. Ledoux will offer the Mass. Concelebrants will be Father Austin Leger, Father Conley Bertrand and numerous diocesan priests. Rite of committal will be held at the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ledoux, age 74, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System.

Dewey was a faithful parishioner and lector of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde and had great devotion to Saint Padre Pio. He was on the Slemco Board of Directors for over 30 years and served in the Louisiana National Guard for six years. He was coowner and operator of Dewey Ledoux Tractor and Office Furniture Company, Inc. for over 40 years.

Dewey enjoyed baseball and coached his sons little league team. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and loved taking trips with family and friends to the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans. He was a great fan of the music of Fats Domino, enjoyed going to Bordens in Lafayette and visiting with the morning breakfast crowd at the Palace Cafe. Dewey will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Madeline Franchebois Ledoux of Opelousas, LA his motherinlaw, Celeste D. Franchebois of Lafayette, LA his sons, Father Mark P. Ledoux of Carencro, LA Paul Dewey Ledoux and wife, Lauren, of Broussard, LA his daughters, Cindy Ledoux Lafleur and husband, Joey, of Prairie Ronde, LA Amy Ledoux Duplechain and husband, Dain, of Port Barre, LA his sisters, Irma Ledoux Speyrer of Opelousas, LA and Sister Nira Ledoux of Opelousas, LA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dewey Ledoux, Sr. and Alice Andrepont Ledoux his brothers, Bryan Joseph Ledoux, Sr., Amos P. Ledoux his sisters, Nell Ledoux Richard and Florence Ledoux Deshotels.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, October 9, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Gift Bearers will be his children and grandchildren. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Paul D. Ledoux, Joey Lafleur, Dain Duplechain, Bryan Ledoux, Jr., Greg Speyrer, Randy Speyrer, Timothy Richard, Luke Deshotels, Fred Franchebois, Luke Franchebois and Robert Franchebois.
