Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Debra Ann Tabb Matthews will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Debra, age 64, was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Opelousas.
She passed away on Monday, April 03, 2017, at Opelousas General Health System. She enjoyed watching movies and television as a past time. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffery Lynn Matthews of Baton Rouge; and William Joseph Matthews of Opelousas; four brothers, Patrick Tabb of Mulberry, FL; Wilfred Tabb of Muntz; Allen Tabb III of Reserve; and Christopher Tabb of Reserve; four sisters, Susan McIntosh of LaPlace; Loretta Jouty of LaPlace; Kathleen Reine of Pontchatoula; and Belinda Donis of Pontchatoula; and three grandchildren, Samantha Kay Matthews, Victoria Paige Matthews, and Brandon Michael Hollier.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Keith Matthews; her parents, Allen Tabb, Jr. and Nora Duhe Tabb; and the father of her children, William Gene Matthews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Friday, visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
