Deanna Manuel Hidalgo passed away at home on November 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in Opelousas, Louisiana. She was born on April 12, 1941, in Eunice, Louisiana. Deanna's genuine compassion and kindness touched the lives of those around her and will be deeply missed.
Deanna achieved several notable accomplishments throughout her life. She received her nursing degree and dedicated herself to providing exceptional care for patients at Doctor's Hospital. Her commitment to helping others was a testament to her selflessness and unwavering dedication to the well-being of those under her care.
Outside of her professional career, Deanna had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought joy into her life. She particularly loved visiting her camp at Holly Beach, where she enjoyed the beauty of nature and spending time outdoors. Deanna also found fulfillment in tending to her animals, sewing beautiful creations, exploring new places through travel adventures, and cherishing precious moments with her beloved family.
Deanna will be forever remembered for the love she had for her family and friends. She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her surviving family members: her sons, Kevin Hidalgo and his wife, Sandra of Opelousas, Troy Hidalgo of Opelousas, Darren Hidalgo and his wife, Melissa of Grand Prairie and Parrish Hidalgo of Opelousas; her brothers, Alvin Manuel of Eunice and Gerald Manuel of Eunice; her sister, Cheryl Soronen of Eunice; her six grandchildren, Alex and his wife, Jackie Hidalgo, Haley Hidalgo, Natalie Hidalgo, Parrish Paul Hidalgo, II, Brooke Penã and Paul Brent Trosclair, II; her 4 great-grandchildren, Michael Trosclair, Taylen Trosclair, Jude Penã and Grayson Penã; and a host of other dear family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hidalgo; her infant son; her parents, Dewey and Zilda Manuel; her brothers, Ronald Doug Manuel and Dewey Joseph Manuel "DJ"; her sister, Elrena Bollich; her niece, Karen Bollich; and her foster-son, Albert "Ponch" Pridgen.
To honor Deanna's memory and celebrate her remarkable life, visitation services will take place at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6 pm in the funeral home. Visitation will resume on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Father Jude Thierry officiating. The burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hidalgo, Troy Hidalgo, Darren Hidalgo, Parrish Hildalgo, Alex Hidalgo, and Parrish Paul Hidalgo, II.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her amazing caregivers, Sandra Hidalgo, Sharon, Laurie, Betty and Gloria; as well as the amazing staff of LA Hospice and Pallative Care.
Deanna Manuel Hidalgo touched numerous lives with her compassion and loving spirit. Her legacy of kindness and empathy will continue to inspire those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
