Krotz Springs – A Mass of Christian Burial for David Whittington, Sr. will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Krotz Springs. Rev. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. A Rosary service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
David Whittington, Sr., a dedicated and hardworking individual, peacefully passed away on May 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was born on January 29, 1943, in Lebeau, Louisiana, and graduated from high school in Palmetto, Louisiana.
Throughout his life, David had a successful career and made significant contributions as a Carpenter, welder, and pile driver. He devoted many years of service to the Carpenter's Union Local 1098 before retiring. His craftsmanship and work ethic left a lasting on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
Beyond his professional achievements, David was known for his love of spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed engaging in friendly card games of Bouree, playing cornhole, and throwing darts. Some of his best memories were traveling around the country while riding motorcycles with his wife, Fay along with family and friends. As a pastime, he took care of his yard - especially tending to his grass. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
David Whittington, Sr. is survived by his loving family and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled in those around him and the impact he made in both his professional and personal life.
He is survived by his son, David Whittington, Jr. and wife, Gena of Bayou Current; his daughter, Charlotte Stelly and husband, David of Krotz Springs; 7 grandchildren: Amanda (Darrell) Barker, Jenny (Belton) Richard, Jenna Leger (Aaron), Kalen (Kaitlin) Stelly, Hannah Whittington (Evan), Grace Stelly, and Faith Stelly; 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Fay Duplichen Whittington; parents, George Whittington and Eula Marks Whittington; brother, Larry Whittington; and sister, Doris Whittington Breaux.
The pallbearers will be Allen Whittington, Darrell Barker, Kalen Stelly, Belton Richard, Blake Barker, and Tylor Swarner. The honorary pallbearer will be Tracy Barker.
In honor of David's remarkable life, let us remember him for his dedication to his work, his passion for spending time with loved ones, and the kindness he showed to all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
