David Wagner Stelly

David W. Stelly, 64, passed away surrounded by his family at Lafayette General Hospital following a short illness.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 10:00am until 2:00pm. A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home by Peter Fruge. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church at 3:00pm with interment in church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Caiden Newman, Jayden Morgan, Jace Morgan, Jon Ledoux, Todd Stelly, Kyle Fontenot and William Herpin.

David was the 7th of 8 children born to the late Mervin Stelly and Thelma Devillier Stelly.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Guillory, Connie Stelly and Vivian Moreau; and his brothers, Tommy Stelly and Joseph Stelly.

David is survived by his loving wife, Angela V. Stelly; his children, Kyle Fontenot, Joanie Ledoux and her husband, Jon and Hannah Vidrine and her husband, Sammy; his sisters, Thelma Stelly and her husband, Glynn and Sandra Wyble and her husband, Karlen. He was also affectionately known by his 14 grandchildren as “Papa”.

David enjoyed fishing and looked forward to duck hunting with his yellow labrador retrievers, Molly and Max.

He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and forever will be missed by all those who loved him.
