David Keith Sebastien, age 70, was born on June 20, 1953, and passed away on April 7, 2024. He was a graduate of Opelousas High School, belonging to the class of 1972. Keith’s life was marked by a deep connection to nature and a profound love for family.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the SIBILLE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 2309 George Drive, Opelousas, LA 70570. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the funeral services. Rite of Committal and interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the SIBILLE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 2309 George Drive, Opelousas, LA. A Rosary service will be held at 12:30 p.m. recited by Yvonne Normand in the SIBILLE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 2309 George Drive, Opelousas, LA.
His days were illuminated by the simple joys of visiting with his buddies at the morning coffee clubs, being at his camp and cooking with his friends and loved ones. Keith had a true passion for the outdoors, finding solace in activities such as fishing and hunting for deer, rabbit, and squirrels. For many years, he dedicated himself to hay farming, finding fulfillment in working the land.
Besides his agricultural pursuits, Keith shared a special bond with his wife, Judy. Together, they found joy in dancing and creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.
David Keith Sebastien leaves behind a legacy that will be forever treasured by his surviving family and friends. His beloved wife of 49 years, Judy Sylvester Sebastien; sons Seth Sebastien (Monica) and Brian Sebastien (Katie); daughter Heather Sebastien; brother Toby Sebastien; sisters Sheila Nelson (Paul "Max"), Charlotte Miller (Kenneth), and Faith Rickert; as well as grandchildren Emilyn, Avery, Rynn, and Oliver Sebastien will carry his memory in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Beryl Ortego Sebastien; brothers, Danny and Charles Sebastien; grandchild, Greyson Myles Sebastien; and nephew, Myles Sebastien.
In remembrance of Keith’s life, let us celebrate his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to the land, and the countless memories created during his time on this earth. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by all who knew him.
