Darold Thibodeaux

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, for Darold John Thibodeaux at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Darold Thibodeaux, age 73, was a long-time resident of Opelousas and passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, at Opelousas General Health System.

Darold was a devoted family man, business owner, devote Catholic, and long-time parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He had 58 years of experience as a mechanic and was the owner of Darold Thibodeaux's Auto Repair and Transmission Shop in Opelousas, Louisiana since 1975. He took pride in having a family run business and went above and beyond to help his customers in need. He loved spending time with his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved admiring all the beauty of their flower gardens.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ethel Lavergne Thibodeaux; son, D.J. Thibodeaux (Cheryl); daughters, Annette Savoie (Mickey) and Darlene Richard; grandchildren, Jenna and Seth Thibodeaux, Adam Savoie (Amber), Malorie Jester (Michael), Kristen Richard (fiance', Chris Myers), Amber Richard (boyfriend, Brandon Andrus); great-grandchildren, Zander and Rowen Jester and Mason and Grace Savoie; and siblings, Luke Thibodeaux, Jr., Lee Anna Dalton, Harran Thibodeaux, Robert Thibodeaux, David "Davis" Thibodeaux, Anna Janise, Dorothy LaBlanc, James Thibodeaux, Joe Thibodeaux, Tony Thibodeaux, Rose Duplechain, Della Thibodeaux and Priscilla Thibodeaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Lydia Thibodeaux; brother, Myrtline Thibodeaux; sisters, Theresa Bertrand, Bernella Thibodeaux and Mary Loretta Thibodeaux; and son-in-law, Scotty Richard.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Adam Savoie, Seth Thibodeaux, Michael Jester, Jr., Tuddy Thibodeaux, Wade Thibodeaux and Eugene Lavergne.

Darold will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
