Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Daniel Brent Mansfield, age 36, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota, LA. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will officiate the service.
Mr. Mansfield a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
Daniel enjoyed antique browsing and viewing unusual paintings. He loved riding dirt bikes with his son and took great pride in his daughter's writing and poetry. He loved making memories by taking trips with his wife and children. Daniel was a huge protector of his family, especially the ladies in his life, including his mother, wife, daughter, grandmother and nanny. He had a kind and generous heart. He also cherished his special four legged friends, Elijah and Simba. Daniel will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sue Duplechain Mansfield; his daughter, Trinity Faith Mansfield; his son, Trevor Brent Mansfield; his mother, Julie Reed Mansfield; his maternal grandmother, Loula Sonnier Reed; his brother, Richard "Russ" Mansfield; his nephew, Tristan Slayde Mansfield; his Godmother, Pamela Kaye Reed; his brother-in-law, James Duplechain, II and wife, Jill; his uncle, Al Reed and wife, Cathy; his special aunt, Page Jones and husband, Steve; his special cousins, Tiffany and Anna Jones and his Godchildren, Marley McKinney and James Duplechain, III.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Allen Mansfield, maternal grandfather, Russell Reed; his paternal grandparents, Dick Mansfield and Betty Stevenson and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James Wilber Duplechain and Ramona Fairley Duplechain.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be James Duplechain, II, Richard "Russ" Mansfield, Derek Benoit, William Diamonde, Travis Stelly, Shay Delahoussaye, Mike McKinney and Al Reed.
