Opelousas - A visitation and memorial service for Dan M. Groome, age 55, will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.

Msg. Louis Melancon will conduct the memorial service.

Dan Groome, a native of Greensboro, N.C. and resident of Opelousas, died at 11:44 a.m. on May 14, 2008 at the Opelousas General Health System.

Dan was a very loving husband, brother and great friend. His family was his life. He was an avid organic gardener who loved nature and the earth. He loved to hunt, fish and play par three golf.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rita Deranger Groome of Opelousas; three brothers, William J. Groome of Randleman, N.C., Stephen A. Groome of Fairplay, CO., and Benjamin P. Groome of Greensboro, N.C.; two nieces, Kim Groome Allgood and Jennifer Groome; five nephews, Nathan, Jared, Jacob, Michael and Gabriel Groome.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris Moore Groome.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
