Dan Box

Opelousas - Funeral services for Dan Michael Box will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La.  Dr. Sylvester Murphy will conduct the funeral service.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 3:30 p.m.  Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, La. Following the burial, the family is inviting everyone to return to Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home for refreshments.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Dan Michael Box, age 75, of Opelousas, La.  He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Dan worked for Schlumberger for many years and was received several safety awards.  He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.  Dan enjoyed being outdoors doing yardwork and fishing.  Family was very important to him, and he loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Monica Rasmussen and husband, Kris Rasmussen, and Pamela Potier (Craig Dugas); his brothers, Dean Box and wife, Gail Box and Bill Box and wife, Delane Box and sisters, Ihla Box and Sylvia Ann Swilley.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Ethan Cormier, Aaron Cormier, Alexandria Potier, Samantha Potier, Adam Rasmussen, and Ian Rasmussen.  He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Isabella Disotell, Corbin Meche, Analeigh Meche, Asher Cormier, Michael-Allen Louviere, and Wrenley Potier.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Pitre Box; his daughter, Annette Box; parents, Arthur James Box and Azema Chaisson Box and his sisters, Shirley Jean and Mary Louise.

Pallbearers will be David Box, Michael Box, Aaron Cormier, Adam Rasmussen, Ian Rasmussen, and Ethan Cormier.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wyatt Louviere, Michael-Allen Louviere, Asher Cormier, and Corbin Meche.
