Corene Franks Harrington

Corene Franks Harrington, age 92, a beloved soul who touched the hearts of many, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the Tri-Community Nursing Home in Palmetto, Louisiana. 

Funeral Services for Corene Harrington will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville, La.  Brother Deon Boudreaux will conduct the service.

A visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville beginning on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral home will re-open on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. 

Corene was born on November 4, 1931, in Brilliant, Alabama. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Throughout life, she had a passion for gardening, finding solace and joy in nurturing the beauty of nature around her. 

Corene was a remarkable mother to 13 children, whom she raised with unwavering love and dedication. She loved taking care of her home and it was always filled with laughter, warmth, and a sense of belonging. She took immense pride in creating a nurturing environment for her children and their families.

Though Corene has bid us farewell, she leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by many. She is survived by her children: Alvin Harrington (Donna) of Silverton, Oregon; Richard Harrington (Meg) of Hessmer, La.; Billy Harrington of Picayune, MS.; Calvin Harrington; Roy Harrington, Sr. (Julie) of Melville La.; Shirley Vaughn (Gary) of Beaverton, Oregon; Irene Coulon (Charles) of Melville, La.; Mary Harrington of St. Francisville, La.; Linda Babin (Louis) of Krotz Springs, La.; Christina Harrington (Todd) of Leonville, La. and John Harrington, Jr. of Picayune, MS; along with her brothers, Paul Franks of Illinois and Jim Franks of Illinois and her sister, Betty Burleson of Haleyville, AL with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Harrington, Sr., her parents, Dock Franks and Cora Darty Franks; her daughter, Ruby Lee Harrington; her son, John Milton Harrington; her grandsons, Billy Harrington Jr. and Joseph Harrington, as well as her brothers, Joe Franks, Dock (Buddy) Franks Jr., Whitt Franks, and her sister, Lucille Linley.

Corene's spirit will live on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known her warmth and kindness. May she rest in eternal peace among the gardens of paradise she so adored.
