CLAUDE JOSEPH DOIRON JR.

Religious and Military Graveside service for Claude Joseph Doiron Jr. will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, December 29,2006 at St. Catherines Catholic Cemetery in Rosa.

Claude, 87, was born in Maringouin La. He died on December 21, 2006 at the Village Care Center in Lees Summit, Missouri.

He entered the military after graduation from Louisiana State Univcrsity, Baton Rouge La in 1941. He married Dorothy Alison Bolton of Concord, New Hampshire in 1951 and they were married for 46 years. In 1962 he retired from the US Air Force at the rank of LTC serving his country through WWII and Korea. His primary responsibility was as Weather Officer and Meteorologist. While stationed in Washington D.C., Claude continued his education receiving a MBA from George Washington University in 1957 and a MA in Geography from Catholic University of America in 1964. The family moved to Denver, Colorado where Claude worked on his Doctoral Program while teaching at the University of Denver and received his PHD in Geography in 1970. He taught at UMKC from 1971-1984 as an Associate Professor and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Association of American Geographers, American Geography Society, Society of the Sigma Xi Gama Theta Upsilon, and a member of the Retired Officers Association. Claude and Dorothy made their home in Grandview, Missouri from 1971 to 1990. In 1990 Claude moved to John Knox Village in Lees Summit, MO.

He is survived by a son; Jim Doiron of Lees Summit, a sister; Lucille A. Doiron of Corpus Christi TX, a niece; Sandy L. Chandler of McAllen TX and a nephew; Rene R. Jensen of Lafayette La.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dolly Marselete Hudspeth Doiron Sr. his wife; Dorothy A. Doiron and his sister; Merle Jensen.
