Clarence Meche

Opelousas - Funeral services for Clarence Joseph Meche, age 92, will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Washington, Louisiana.

Rev. Jose Robles Sanchez will conduct the services.

Clarence Meche, a resident of Alexandria, died at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Heritage Manor in Alexandria.

Mr. Meche was a lifelong farmer who loved to hunt, fish and camp.

Mr. Meche is survived by his wife of 71 12 years, Alice Dupre Meche, formerly of Plaucheville and a resident of Alexandria; his sons, Joseph Clarence J.C. and wife, Lorraine Lemoine Meche, of Cottonport; Donald Meche and his wife, Loraine Kimball Meche, of Vidalia; Eddie Meche and his wife, Lisa Crouch Meche, of Plaucheville; Philip Meche and his wife, Germaine Jeansonne Meche, of Cottonport; his daughters, Frances Foret Marks of Washington; Edna Mae Turner of Alexandria and Helen Bordelon and her husband, J. Rachael Bordelon, of Hemphill, Texas and his brother, Withness Meche and his wife, June, of Melville. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and 17 step-grandchildren.

Mr. Meche was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Honora Mouton Meche; his brothers, Lawrence Meche, Emile Meche, Daniel Meche, Early Meche; a sister, Eleanor M. Fontenot; a grandson, Michael Brent Foret and three sons-in-law, Joseph P. Foret, Aristide Marks and Raymond Turner.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Joseph P. Foret, Jr., Evans Meche, Errol Knott, Scott Meche, Eddie Meche, Jr. and Philip Meche, Jr.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Friday, May 2, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until service time.

A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
