Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 for Clara Belle Martin Lafleur at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA. Father Jared Suire will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
Clara Belle Lafleur, age 89 and a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Denham Springs, LA.
Clara Belle was a bookkeeper for several companies in the Opelousas area. Her last employment before retirement, was at T. H. Harris Vocational Technical School. Clara was a hard worker, as well as, a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alice Lafleur Bilski and husband, Robert of Denham Springs and Lynn Lafleur Dragonfly and husband, Robert of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Meghan Bilski and Paul Bilski; and sister, Mary Alice Clark of Jena, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel J. Lafleur; grandson, Phillip J. Bilski; parents, Conrad O. Martin and Alice Joubert Martin; brothers, Ivan, Otis, Ezra and James Martin; and sisters, Elvina M. Johnson, Onie M. Nezat, Ily M. Ray, Prudie M. Ray, Neddie M. Carriere, Elsie M. Stelly and Lottie M. Shumard.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. It will resume Monday, June 5, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.
