Clara Fontenot

OpelousasA Mass of Christian Burial for Clara Vidrine Fontenot, age 90, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2009, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Fontenot, a native of Ville Platte and lifelong resident of Opelousas, died 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2009 in the Opelousas General Health System.

Mrs. Clara loved to cook big Sunday dinners for the family. She also enjoyed eating out with family and friends and spending time quilting. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by five daughters, JoAnn F. Reviere and companion Jimmy Bourque, Geraldine Jerry Comeaux, Beverly Fontenot and husband Wayne, and Sherry Franks and husband Lawrence all of Opelousas, and Mayonie Andrepont and husband Wayne of Prairie Ronde; a brother Ivan Vidrine of Lafayette; three sisters, Joyce Hernandez of Mandeville, Emma Guidry of Church Point, and Bonnie Robin of Broussard; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Fontenot was preceded in death by her husband Willard Fontenot; parents, Octave and Lovinia OConnor Vidrine; eight brothers and sisters, and a son-in-law, John Comeaux.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. and will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
