Charles "Chuck" Guidry

Opelousas-Services for Charles Maurice Guidry will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Charles Maurice Guidry, age 78, on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Senior Village Nursing Home.

Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He worked 20 years as a police officer at the Opelousas Police Department.  Charles enjoyed hotrods, working on cars, being outdoors and fishing.  He was a huge LSU football fan.  Charles organized and played in charity softball games.  He enjoyed life most when his family was gathered for cookouts and visits.  Charles will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Kip Guidry of Opelousas, LA; his daughter, Madonna Dossman of Breaux Bridge, LA; his brothers, Bert Guidry and wife, Kim, of California, Willie Ray Guidry of Port Arthur, TX, Ronald Guidry of Jasper, TX, Dennis Guidry of New Roads, LA; his sisters, Kathy Richard and husband, Ronald, of Church Point, LA, Geneva Guidry of Central, LA, Audrey Rushing of Central, LA and Elizabeth Guidry of Baton Rouge, LA.  He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Prudhomme Guidry; his parents, Willie and Edith Reviere Guidry; his sister, Madeline DeRouen and his brother, Carl W. Guidry.
