Krotz Springs - Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Steven Halphen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017, in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Reverend Fr. Jason Vidrine will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anthony Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.
Steve, age 58, was a native of Baton Rouge and a longtime resident of Krotz Springs. He passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Steve was the Chief Operator for Valero for over 20 years. He was active in Camp Atchafalaya and on the Board of Directors for St. Landry Abilities Group. Steve was an Entrepreneur and Business owner of many subdivisions and crawfish farms. He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Steve cherished his time spent with his family and friends especially his grandchildren. He loved being around people and was always willing to help anyone in need. Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Charles E. Halphen and Audrey Halphen; son, Jason Halphen and girlfriend, Kelsey; daughters, Sandra Castille and husband, David; and Laurel Halphen; brothers, Will Halphen and wife, Myumi; and Scott Halphen and wife, Diane; sister, Marie Kaiser and husband, Johnny; and six grandchildren, Joseph Ardoin, Terry Ardoin, Rowan Halphen, Alyssa Halphen, August Halphen and Finn Castille.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Terri Slocum Halphen; mother, Rita LeBouf Halphen; grandchildren, Matthew Wayne Ardoin and Job' Christian Halphen; and mother-in-law, Margaret Ray Slocum.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with an all-night wake until 10:45 a.m. on Monday in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Halphen, David Castille, Chuck Kaiser, Chad Hebert, Scott Halphen, Will Halphen, Michael Halphen, and Jordan Kaiser.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Ardoin, Terry Ardoin, and Rowan Halphen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be made to the St. Landry Abilities Group.
