Charles Martin

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Charles H. Martin, age 77, in the St. Landry Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Mesley will be the celebrant of the Mass.

Mr. Martin who was a native and resident of Opelousas, died on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.

He was a Charter Member of the Opelousas Sertoma Club, bookkeeper for LouAnna Foods, the Sertoma Club and he retired as bookkeeper for Roy Motors.

Survivors include his longtime caregiver, Mary Ann Fournier of Opelousas and a special friend Sue Fakouri Broussard of Basile.

He was preceded in death by his parents J.B. and Lelia Cahanin Martin and a brother Gus Martin.

Visiting will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas starting on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. and will re-open at 8:00 on Tuesday. A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
