Opelousas A Rosary and Funeral Service for Charles Kirk Sylvester Lognion will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Reverend Paul Bienvenu will officiate the service.
Mr. Lognion, age 54, a resident of Opelousas, LA died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at his residence.
Charles Kirk Sylvester Lognion retired from Opelousas General Health System as a Collections Manager and was an active member of many community organizations. He belonged to the Boys and Girls Club of Opelousas, was a parishioner and usher for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church was a University of Louisiana Lafayette Alumni Supporter a member and past president of the Opelousas Jaycees and was the co captain of the Opelousas mens retreat at Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat House in Grand Coteau, LA. He was instrumental in starting the Opelousas Catholic Alumni Association and was past president in 2006 and 2007. He also belonged to the Elks Lodge and was Elk of the Year in 2011. Charles will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Barbara Doucet Lognion, of Opelousas, LA his daughter, Casey Leigh Lognion Holley and husband, Quary, of Michigan his stepson, William Cody Clark of Opelousas, LA his brother, Gene Lognion and wife, Julia, of Lafayette, LA his sisters, Yvonne L. Normand and husband, Keith, of Opelousas, LA Suzanne L. Yates of Mobile, Alabama. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brittany Nicole Lognion, Tiffany, Christian, Courtney, Mya, Michael and Nicholas Holley and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Deacon Arthur B. and Lou Ella Sylvester Lognion his grandchild, Trey Holley and his grandparents, Armas and Zita Sylvester and Orlena and Eda Lognion.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Friday, February 15, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
