Opelousas - Funeral services for Charlene Marie Whipp-Stelly will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Pastor Eugene Reiszner from Our Savior's Church will conduct the service. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Mrs. Stelly, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at her daughter's home in Lawtell, LA.

Charlene was a school teacher for over 20 years and taught at many schools in St. Landry and Lafayette parishes during her career. She loved quilting and sewing and was a member of the Krotz Springs Quilters' Guild. She enjoyed spending time blogging on her favorite websites. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Charlene will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Xavier J. Stelly, Sr. of Lewisburg, LA; her daughters, Dorothy Cortez Thornton of Port Barre, LA, Tanya Cortez of Arnaudville, LA, Billie Cortez of Lawtell, LA, Michelle Renee Cortez of Lewisburg, LA, Lynn Kee of San Antonio, TX, Lisa Stelly of Lewisburg, LA; her son, Xavier James Stellly, Jr.; her brother, Austin Edwin Whipp, Jr. and her sister, Ann Whipp Fruge' of Kinder, LA. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and three on the way.

She was preceded in death by parents, Austin Edwin Whipp, Sr. and Vernalee Badeaux Whipp; her brother, Roy Andrew Whipp; her nephew, Roy Andrew "Andy" Whipp, II; her grandson, Kevin Austin LeCompte; her paternal grandparents, Jennie and Ivy "Bob" Whipp and her maternal grandparents, Emily and Rene' Badeaux.
