Charlene Smith

Lawtell - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Charlene Prejean Smith, age 73, at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery in Lawtell, LA. Reverend Ted Broussard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. service time at 3:00 p.m.

Charlene, a resident of Lawtell, LA, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at her residence.

Charlene was a retired LPN who worked for Dr. Tom Jones for 29 years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in her yard. Charlene cherished following her two granddaughters, Kamryn Duncan and Kerstyn Andrepont rodeos and dance recitals. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Rachelle Duncan and husband, Trampas, of Watson, LA; Karla Andrepont and husband, Torrey, of Lawtell, LA; her brothers, Darold Prejean and wife, Helen, of Butte La Rose, LA; Kendrick Prejean of Lawtell, LA; her sisters, Glenda Fontenot, of Carencro, LA; Dianna Walkowiak of Lawtell, LA and Mona Prejean and husband, Pat, of Lawtell, LA. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Kamryn Duncan, Kerstyn Andrepont; her beloved four-legged friend, "Tike" and her former husband, Darrell Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Iris Higginbotham Prejean; her sister-in-law, Jenny Prejean and her brothers-in-law, Roy Fontenot and Chuck Walkowiak.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the Miles Perret Cancer Center.
