Palmetto - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charleen Marie Ganson Chautin, age 82, on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Opelousas General Health System.

Funeral services for Charleen Marie Ganson Chautin will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in the Palmetto United Methodist Church.  Pastor Laurie Raborn will conduct the service.  Burial will follow in the Methodist Church Cemetery in Palmetto.

Visitation will be held in the Palmetto United Methodist Church (located at 201 Taylor Street, Palmetto, LA 71358) on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Charleen was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing.  She also loved spending time outside tending to her garden.  Most of all, Charleen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Chet Chautin and wife, Erin of Washington; and Rodney Todd Chautin and wife, Sheerie of Picayune, MS; and her daughters, Karen Chautin Goodnow and husband, Spaff of Slidell; and Melanie Chautin Maddox and husband, Shane of Slidell.  She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Zachary Goodnow, Austin Chautin, Christopher Goodnow, Will Chautin, Brooke Thompson, and Shelbi Maddox; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland J. "Junior" Chautin, Jr. and her parents, W.R. Ganson and Mary "Dooney" Budden Ganson.

Pallbearers will be Chet Chautin, Todd Chautin, Zach Goodnow, Chris Goodnow, Austin Chautin and Will Chautin.
