Celina Speyrer

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Celina R. Speyrer, age 89, will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Reverend Paul Metrejean will conduct the services.

Mrs. Speyrer, a native of Leonville and resident of Opelousas, died on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at her residence.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose world revolved around family. She cherished all of the time spent with them. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Robert Speyrer and wife Claire of Opelousas, Charles Speyrer and wife Tanya of Monroe, and Gabriel Gabe Speyrer and wife Ann of Opelousas; daughters, Celina Hardy and husband Rixie of Abbeville and Julian Hesser and husband Gary of Shreveport; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Mrs. Speyrer was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel Speyrer, Sr.; her parents, Alcee Rivette, Sr. and Celina LaHaye Rivette; her son, Dr. Allen D. Speyrer; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. and will re-open on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
