Celeste Franchebois

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 for Celeste Dohmann Franchebois at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Mark Ledoux will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Celeste Dohmann Franchebois, age 94, who was a native of Lewisburg and a former resident of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

Celeste was a shoe sales-person at Abdalla's of Opelousas and also the Head Room Mother at St. Leo Catholic School. She worked alongside her husband and sons in the family business and then retired as a shoe sales-person at Poor Richard's and Crazy Charlie's shoes stores of Lafayette. Celeste was a longtime, faithful parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette. She spent her last year surrounded by her loving family. Celeste will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, John "Sonny" Franchebois, Jr. and wife, Sandy, Fred Franchebois and close friend, Claudia, Robert Franchebois and close friend, Natalie and Luke Franchebois and wife, Stacey; daughter, Madeline Ledoux; sister, Joyce Savoy; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilman Franchebois; parents, John and Marie Dohmann; and brothers, Jerry and Alton Dohmann.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. It will continue on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed by Father Mark Ledoux at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday Evening.

Pallbearers will be Sonny, Fred, Luke and Robert Franchebois, Damon Savoy and Jerry Dohmann, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Ledoux, Joey Lafleur and Dain Duplechain.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her Hospice Compassus caregivers.
