Cecil Dopson, Sr.

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Cecil Andrew Dopson, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013, in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will be held at the St. Joseph Mausoleum in Rayne, LA. Reverend James Brady will be the celebrant.

Mr. Dopson, age 84, a resident of Opelousas, died Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Opelousas General Health System. He was a retired social worker from the state of Louisiana.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Trahan Dopson, of Opelousas, LA his son, Cy Dopson, of Ohio his step sons, E.J. Marceaux and wife, Marie, of Crowley, LA Robert Joseph Marceaux of Crowley, LA his daughters, Jolie Ballinger and husband, Jim, of Oregon Sara Lenore Scott of TN Shannon Cardaronella and husband, Marc, of Savoy, IL Arlene Hall and husband, Richard, of Crowley, step daughter Debra Marceaux of Mermentau, sister Sarah Dopson Cecil of Baton Rouge, LA two special sistersinlaw, Berta Thibodeaux and husband, Marshall, of Lafayette, LA Bobbie Smith of Gueydan, LA seven grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and 4 step greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter George Dopson, Sr. and Norma Couvillion Dopson his brothers, Walter George Dopson, Jr. and Gilbert Joseph Dopson his sisters, Mae Dopson Lemoine and Shirley Dopson Barton.

The family has requested visitation be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Robert Joseph Marceaux, Donald Pastor, Jacob Marceaux, Dillion Cashi, Lance Cashi and Robert Joseph Marceaux, II. Honorary pallbearers will be E.J. Marceaux, Jr., John B. Cardaronella, David J. Cardaronella, Dakota Pastor, Kaison Cashi and Dante Pastor.
