Catherine Vanchiere

The mass of Christian burial will be at St. Johns Catholic Church in Melville at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 18th, 2006. The mass will be concelebrated by her parish priest, Rev. James Nguyen and visiting priest Rev. Victor Messina, a friend of the family. Burial will follow the funeral at St. Johns Cemetery in Melville.

Mrs. Vanchiere, age 92, a life long resident of Melville, Louisiana, died on Sunday October 15 at 3:50AM at her home. She was a member of the Melville Womans Federation for 50 years and the St. Johns Catholic Altar Society. She was an avid gardener of flowers and a wonderful cook.

She is survived by her daughter; Carmen Vanchiere Kellerman and son-in-law Dr. Harry Kellerman of New Roads La, her daughter-in-law; Donna Powers Vanchiere of Lake Charles; 10 grandchildren; Dr. Susan Kellerman Yoshida of Lawrence, Kansas, Brett Michael Kellerman of League City, TX, Eric John Kellerman of Houston, TX, Kurt Gregory Kellerman of New Roads, La., Jack Anthony Kellerman of Baton Rouge, La. Charles Michael Vanchiere of Lake Charles, La., Dr. John A. Vanchiere of Houston, TX. Catherine Vanchiere Beane of Washington D.C., Andrew Warren Vanchiere of Lake Charles, La. and Paul David Vanchiere of Houston TX. 20 Great-grandchildren, 3 sisters; Elizabeth Cannatella Onnebane of Lafayette, La., Rosie Cannatella of Melville, La., and Martha Cannatella Burt of Marble Falls, TX., 2 brothers; Pete Cannatella of Melville La. and Frank Cannatgella of Port Neches TX, 4 special caregivers; Barbara Orgeron, Barbara Nacquin, Myrtle Circello and Linda Bertrand.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Anthony Vanchiere, her son, Dr. Charles M. Vanchiere, 2 sisters; Jennie Cannatella and Fena Cannatella Savage, 2 brothers; Joseph Cannatella and Deacon Carlo Cannatella, her parents; Charles V. Cannatella and Mathilde Gulino Cannatella.

Pallbears will be her 8 grandsons, Honorary pallbearers are her nephews; Phil Onnebane, Marshall Savage III, David Charles Cannatella, Gregory A. Burt, Charles cannatella, Grant Cannatella and John Cannatella.

Gift bearers will be her great-granddaughtes; Anne Kellerman, Yvonne Kellerman, Katie Vanchiere and Julia Vanchiere.

Scripture Readings at Mass will be done by her granddaughters; Dr. Susan Kellerman Yoshida and Catherine Vanchiere Beane.

Music will be done by her daughter-in-law; Donna Powers Vanchiere and granddaughter-in-law; Margaret Vanchiere.

The family has requested that visitation be observed on Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville from 5:00PM till 8:00PM and will continue on Wednesday, October 18th from 9:00AM till time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30PM on Tuesday.
