Catherine Marcotte

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Catherine "Sister" O. Marcotte at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016, in the St. John Catholic Church in Melville. Reverend John O'Hallaran, SSJ will conduct the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Marcotte, age 86, a lifelong resident of Melville, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at her residence. Sister enjoyed her long life and shared her love with family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and godmother.

She was very kind and generous to those who knew her. Her legacy is one of kindness, compassion and understanding; she was never judgmental of others. She enjoyed cooking and baking and her "tea cakes" were a favorite of many. She leaves behind many fond memories shared by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Aubrey Marcel Leach, Jr.; her step-children, Shirley Beard (Allen) of Mississippi; Judy Cormier of Mississippi; Allen Marcotte of Livonia; Lynn Adams of Breaux Bridge; Barbara Boudreaux of Arkansas and Susie Granger of Krotz Springs. She also leaves behind her siblings, Lottie P. Beebe (Joseph R. Pearson); Louis A. Polotzola (Cindy); Mary P. Morain (Bennett); Frank Polotzola and Joe Polotzola (Olive) and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her Aunt Myrtle Circello, her sister-in-law, Lurlene Estelle Majors and her brother-in-law, Thurman Leach.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Lottie Circello Orgeron; brother, Sam Orgeron; half-sisters, Tena P. Jordan, Sarah Bea Goudeau; half-brothers, Stephen Polotzola, James Thibodeaux, Dommie R. Polotzola and John Mikell Polotzola and her former spouses, Aubrey Leach, Sr., Rushing Marcotte and Jake Kimble.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until service time.
