Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Carolyn Gast Lipari, at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Monsignor Louis Melancon Mausoleum in Opelousas, LA.
Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, December 14, 2024, beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. by Deacon Bill Pollingue in the funeral home.
Carolyn Agatha Gast Lipari, a beloved member of her community and family, peacefully departed this life on December 2, 2024, at Opelousas General Health System, at the age of 90. She was born on June 18, 1934, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Carolyn led a life rich in love, creativity, and devotion to her family and faith.
Carolyn worked as a bookkeeper for many years before devoting herself to her family. Her commitment extended beyond her immediate family, as she generously contributed her time and efforts to the Orphan Train Society in Opelousas, Louisiana. Carolyn had a loving and caring heart; her presence brought joy and comfort to those around her.
An avid gardener, Carolyn found joy in cultivating her garden, particularly proud of her cherished rose bush named "Just Joey." Her creativity flourished through her talents as an artist and portrait sketcher, showcasing her remarkable artistic abilities. Additionally, she found pleasure in crocheting, ceramics, and collecting fine China, reflecting her imaginative spirit and flair for beauty.
Carolyn was deeply grounded in her faith as a devout Catholic and was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She was a past member of a rosary group that crafted rosaries.
Carolyn's love for family was evident, and she is survived by her son, Joey Lipari and his wife, Kimberly of Baton Rouge; her brother, C.J. Gast and his wife, Mary Beth of Houma; her sisters, Frances Smith of Morgan City; and Vickie Reddock and her husband, Randy of Morgan City; her sisters-in-law, Kathleen Lipari of Lafayette; and Alice Lipari of Covington. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and her grand dogs, Ginny and Abby.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Lucien Joseph Lipari; her parents, Carl Joseph Gast and Inez Agatha Vicknair Gast; her sisters, Mary Helen Arcemont and Jackie Daigle; her brothers-in-law, Thomas Smith, Wallace Arcemont, Frank Lipari and Charles Lipari; her niece, Claire Arcemont; her nephew, Robert Arcemont; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank Lipari and "Lena" Antonina Cutera Lipari.
Carolyn will be remembered for her generous heart, artistic talents, and unwavering faith. Her legacy of love and commitment to her family will continue to inspire those who knew her.
