Carolyn Bertrand

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carolyn Vaughn Mayer Bertrand will be held on Monday July 8, 2013 at St. Landry Catholic Church at 10:00am. Rite of Committal will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Louis Melancon will be the celebrant.

Mrs. Bertrand, age 71, a resident of Opelousas, died Friday July 5, 2013 at Opelousas General Health System. She was a retired pediatric office manager, a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church, served on the Bereavement Committee, Missionaries of Charity and Cursillo Movement Team.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Charles C. Bertrand of Opelousas, sons Joseph R. Robbie Sebastien, Jr. of Opelousas, Christopher Michael Sebastien of Opelousas, David Charles Sebastien and wife Sharon of Opelousas, William Billy Kerr Sebastien and wife Cathy of Port Barre, Jonathan Kent Sebastien and wife Justine of Opelousas, Stephen Paul Sebastien of Opelousas, daughters Geraldine Vaughn Bouchereau and husband Forrest of Washington, Heidi Maria LeDoux and husband David of Opelousas, Carrie Sebastien of Opelousas, Margaret Anne Doise and husband Daryl of Sunset, Theresa Claire Fontenot and husband Michael of Opelousas, step sons Timothy George Bertrand and wife Margaret of Opelousas and Denis Jude Bertrand and wife Diane of Baton Rouge, step daughters Jeannine Anne Guilbeau and husband Lynn of Lafayette and Andrea Theresa Hulse and husband Frank of Baton Rouge, 26 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents Charles R. Mayer, Sr. and Geraldine Vaughn Kerr, son James Michael Sebastien and a brother Charles R. Mayer, Jr.

The family has requested visitation be held on Sunday July 7, 2013 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and will reopen on Monday at 8:00am. A rosary will be recited at 5:00pm on Sunday.

Serving as pallbearers will be her 6 sons. Honorary pallbearers will be her step sons and step grandsons Tim, Denis, Alex and Adam Bertrand. Readers will be Katie Bouchereau and Jeannine Guilbeau. Offertory Gifts will be brought up by Barbara Wiltz Ledet, Olivia Sebastien and Andrea Hulse. Music will be provided by Kristy Metoyer Anderson.
