To honor Carole's life and share cherished memories, a Memorial Gathering will take place on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, LA 70570. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am led by Mrs. Cecille Dupre. A Memorial Chapel Service will be held at 10:30 am by Rev. Fr. Kyle White. Rite of Committal and inurnment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
Carole Viviano, a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on August 7, 2023, at Opelousas General Health System. She was born on February 8, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carole dedicated her career to healthcare for many years and was a retired nurse.
Carole's commitment to helping others extended beyond her professional life. She had a kind and compassionate nature that radiated through all aspects of her life. Whether she was tending to patients or supporting her loved ones, Carole always offered comfort and care. She was extremely close to all her children and grandchildren throughout their entire lives.
Outside of work, Carole cultivated numerous hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She had a green thumb and spent countless hours nurturing beautiful gardens. She possessed a creative spirit that found expression through art and cake decorating. Additionally, Carole demonstrated her sewing skills with exquisite craftsmanship. Her vibrant personality shown on the dance floor as she joyfully moved to the rhythm of life.
Throughout her journey, Carole achieved many remarkable milestones. In 1953, she proudly served as "Miss Opelousas" queen—a testament to her grace and charm.
Carole leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and affection. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph "J.B." Viviano; her parents, Arthur Lewis Schexnayder and Florence Mary Fisher Schexnayder; as well as her brothers, Arthur "Butch" Schexnayder, Norman Schexnayder, and Richard "Wayne" Schexnayder; and great-grandson, Rocky Joseph Viviano.
Carole's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family members: sons Rick Viviano (Lisa) and David Viviano (Kathy); daughters, Teena Viviano Ritter, Cindy Hines (Chris), and Susan Mathes (Scott); brothers, James "Jimmy" Schexnayder and Gene Schexnayder; sisters, Madeline Bernard and Beth Delahoussaye; 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Her unconditional love and unwavering support will continue to guide them through life's journey.
Carole Viviano brought light into the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warmth, kindness, and everlasting love will continue to inspire us all. Carole always had a positive attitude towards everything she did. Her life’s approach to all challenges boiled down to: “Whateva. It is what it is!” May her soul rest in peace.
