Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Carl Eubanks, age 79, will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Monsignor Louis Melancon will officiate the services.
Mr. Eubanks, a resident of Opelousas, died on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11:20 p.m. at Opelousas General Health System after a short illness.
He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict while serving in the Airforce. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge Humble Cottage Masonic Lodge 19. He retired from DOTD in 1984 and served as Street Commissioner for Opelousas. Since retirement, he loved playing golf, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, May Robin Eubanks of Opelousas, La.; his daughters, Elizabeth Paleogos and husband, Todd, of Council Bluffs, IA; Carla Eubanks of Opelousas, La.; Jackie Ortego of Opelousas, La. and Cathy Eubanks of Lafayette, La. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Marty Arnaud, Jr., Nick Arnaud, Dorie Arnaud, Zachary Eubanks, Adam Eubanks, Jasmine Eubanks, Katie Paleogos and Gracie Girouard. He also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, his brothers-in-law, George Gennuso, Sr. of Opelousas, La., Clarence Stephen of Opelousas, La. and his sister-in-law, Dean Robin of Lafayette, La.
Mr. Eubanks was preceded in death by his parents, Carl R. Eubanks; Della Mae and Percy Durio.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
