Camille Leger

Prairie Ronde A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Camille Leger, age 97, on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Prairie Ronde, followed by interment in the church mausoleum. The Reverend Ted Broussard will be the celebrant of the mass.

Camille was a native of Church Point, La. and resident of the Prairie Ronde community since 1932. He died peacefully at Heritage Manor Nursing Home with his son at his bedside at 7:01 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2010. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially to those who knew him as Poppy.

Camille lived a long an industrious life. He retired for the last time at 84 years of age. As he always laughed and stated, It is good to live to be old, but hard to lose all your family and friends who go before you. Camille was the last living sibling of a family of 8 born to Adolph Leger and Zulime Courvelle.

He is survived by his son, Glinden Glen Leger and wife, Lillian, of Opelousas, La. and their three children, Cynthia L. Prather, Dwayne Leger and Pam L. Harmon all of Opelousas his daughter, Wanda L. Hidalgo of Opelousas, La. and her five children, Charles Hidalgo of Cade, La., Gwen H. Boudreaux of Dallas Quinton Hidalgo Timothy Tim Hidalgo and Miranda HidalgoQuebedeaux all of Opelousas his daughter, Myrna L. Martin and husband, John Terry, of Baton Rouge, La. and their children, David Scott Wartelle of New Orleans and Michelle WartelleDomec of Lafayette. He is also survived by 20 greatgrandchildren and 12 greatgreat grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Dupre Leger two grandsons, Camille Kent Hidalgo and James Michael Wartelle his soninlaw, Robert Hidalgo, Jr. and his grandsoninlaw, Kevin Quebedeaux.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Charles Hidalgo, Dwayne Leger, Quinton Hidalgo, Tim Hidalgo, Scott Wartelle, and grandsoninlaw, Randy Prather. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsoninlaw, Keith Harmon his nephew, Chester Darbonne and soninlaw, John Terry Martin.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Special thanks from his children to his daughterinlaw, Lillian, who treated him as a father, the staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home who took care of his needs during his stay with them and to numerous physicians.
