Calvin Bellard

A Mass of Christian Burial for Calvin Joseph Bellard, age 74, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton, LA, followed by the Rite of Committal in the Church Mausoleum. The Reverend Austin Leger will Celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Bellard, a native and resident of Opelousas, died at 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Calvin worked in the poultry business with his brothers for over fifty years. He loved to dance to a great Cajun waltz and Calvin enjoyed playing bouree and calling bingo at the Southern Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons, Ronnie Dean Joseph Bellard of Alabama and Jessie Martin Bellard and wife Melissa Ann Bellard of Opelousas daughter, Ginger Marie Bellard Kartchner and husband Willie of Krotz Springs brothers, Ashton Bellard and wife Charlene, Leroy Bellard, Harry Bellard and wife Ruby, A.C. Bellard and wife Joyce, Rodney Bellard and wife Geneva, and Ronald Bellard and wife Roma six grandchildren, Brittany Bellard and fiance, Michael Barron, Logan Kartchner and fiance, Emily Quebodeaux, Brandie Bellard, Donald Joseph Bellard, Abby Kartchner, and Carson Gustav Kartchner.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Menard Bellard and his parents, Joseph and Lucille LeBlanc Bellard.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Bellard, Ronnie Bellard, Willie Kartchner, Logan Kartchner, Donald Bellard and Randal Bellard
Visiting will begin in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 on Monday evening.
The Bellard family would like to thank Eunice Manor Nursing Home, Eunice Extended Care, and Louisiana Hospice Palliative Care of Opelousas for the loving care given to Calvin during his illness.
