Opelousas - Funeral services for Burnell Vidrine will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service. A burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. and go on until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025.

The pallbearers will be Nick Vidrine, Jeremi Vidrine, Zachary Armantrout, Keith Vidrine, Andrew Darbonne and William Stewart-Starks.

Burnell Vidrine, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather passed away peacefully at his residence in Opelousas, Louisiana, on January 13, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on December 30, 1936, in Vidrine, Louisiana, Burnell's life was a testament to hard work, family dedication, and genuine love for those around him.

In his career, Burnell contributed to his community through various roles. He began working at the Opelousas Canal Station in the 1970s, later becoming a familiar face at A & B Quick Shop in the late 1970s and into the 1980s. His work continued at Vidrine's Grocery Store throughout the 1980s and 1990s, where his friendly demeanor and dedication served as a welcoming presence for customers and coworkers alike.

Burnell was not only known for his strong work ethic but also for his devotion to his family. He was a wonderful father and husband, whose greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones. His legacy as a caring and hardworking man will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Throughout his life, Burnell had a wide array of hobbies and interests. In his younger days, he found joy in fishing, gardening, and traveling, that allowed him to connect with nature and share memorable experiences with his family. He took pride in speaking Cajun French and enjoyed listening to Cajun French music. 

Burnell is survived by his sons, Gregory Vidrine and Anthony Vidrine and his wife, Cyndi; his daughter, Karen Ducharme and companion, Arvin Woellhof and his sister, Laura Guillory. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Ashley Davila (Mario), Courtney Stewart-Starks (William), Lauren Jones, Amanda Latino (Mark), Nick Vidrine (Kelsea), Jeremi Vidrine (Brea), and Krystin Armantrout (Zachary). Additionally, he is also survived by his fourteen great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Banda, Marisol Banda, Jonathon Banda, Elijah Stewart-Starks, Jace Jones, Audria Stewart-Starks, Abram Stewart-Starks, Elizabeth Stewart-Starks, Sam Latino, Breez Thibodeaux, Audrey Vidrine, Jack Latino, Rylee Armantrout, and Beaux Vidrine, and his two great-great grandchildren, Xzavier Refugio and Noah Refugio.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Audrey D. Vidrine, and his parents, Alibe Vidrine and Adilia Chapman Vidrine; his brothers: Edward, Frank, Veil, Kirby, and Delta Vidrine, along with his sisters: Eve Guillory, Lelma Courville, and Willie Mae Lafleur.

We would like to thank all his caregivers, especially Donna Joubert and CC Carriere. We would also like to thank the hospital and healthcare workers, NSI Hospice nurses, Angie, Lacy and Wendy.

The impact of Burnell's life will be felt for generations, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and joy. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
