Brenda Berteau

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Brenda Gale Berteau at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

Mrs. Berteau, age 63, a resident of Winnfield, LA, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Winn Parish Medical Center.

Brenda was a nurse for 13 years at Winn Parish Medical Center. She enjoyed crocheting, making jewelry, making candles and making homemade wine. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Travis Berteau of Winnfield, LA; Jonathan Berteau of Alexandria, LA; her daughters, Beth Berteau Dunn and husband, Dean, of Opelousas, LA; Alisa Berteau Van Aken and husband, Brian, of Grahamsville, New York; her brother, Jerry Prather of Alexandria, LA and her sisters, Laura Bergeaux and husband, Robert, of Jennings, LA; Jeannette Hebert and husband, Loyven, of Lecompte, LA; Mary Richard and husband, Bob, of Opelousas, LA; Rebecca Doucet and husband, Lee, of Port Barre, LA; Betty Prather of Lake Charles, LA; Paulette Hunter and husband, Danny, of Cuttoff, LA and her half-sister, Lilliana Duplantis. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sunsaree Van Aken, Quintin Berteau, Gaibrul Van Aken, Alexandria Van Aken, Wyatt Dunn, Lucas Dunn, Holden Dunn and Kaleb Dunn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Patrick Berteau; her parents, Herbert Prather and Louise Prather Duplantis and her sister, Barbara Racheal.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
