Bonnie Venable

OPELOUSAS – A mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bonnie Bourgeois Venable on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, La. Rite of Committal will follow in the St Bridget Cemetery. Father Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bonnie Bourgeois Venable, age 88 on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Prompt Succor Nursing Homing in Opelousas, La. Bonnie was born and lived in Lawtell, La. where she graduated from Lawtell High School. She worked in the furniture business for many decades and was a local business owner. Bonnie was a caretaker of many elderly family member during her lifetime. She loved her Lawtell community and church. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and godmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her brother Aubrey Bourgeois of Naples, FL. She is also survived by her nieces Deborah Begnaud Fruge and husband Glenn of Lafayette; Paula Bourgeois Daigle and husband Dwaine of Nashville, TN; Debbie Guillory of Church Point; Arlene Frazier and her husband Houston of Church Point; and nephews Dwayne Begnaud of Opelousas; Kevin Bourgeois of Lafayette; Michael Bourgeois and wife Rachel of Lafayette; Kirk Guillory of Church Point; and her sister-in-law Leona Venable Guillory. She also loved all her godchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Joffery Venable, her parents Carlton and Isaure Pitre Bourgeois; her sister Wilda Ann Bourgeois Begnaud; her brother-in-law John C. Begnaud; her sister-in-law Kathleen Bourgeois; her in-laws Alphan and Eve Guidry Venable; her brother-in-law Leander “Black” Venable; her brother-in-law Leroy Guillory.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the rosary prayed at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Prompt Succor Nursing home for the care they gave to Bonnie.
