A memorial service for Bonnie Kerr Amy will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Monsignor Louis Melancon will officiate the services. Private graveside services and interment will held at a later date.
Mrs. Amy died peacefully in her sleep on August 28, 2009 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
She was born in Opelousas, LA on October 4, 1906 and was a lifelong resident. She was professionally employed all of her adult life at United Gas Company, Abdallas Furniture Store and the Opelousas Public Library. She retired at the age of 72. Most will remember her for her calm and gentle nature; always happy, peaceful and fulfilled with humor. She was an accomplished artist and poet. Her beautiful florals and Louisiana landscape scenes grace the walls of her grandchildren and great-grandchildrens homes.
Mrs. Amy is survived by her daughter, Barbara Boudreau Wiltz, of Opelousas; a daughter-in-law, Millie Boudreau, of Washington; thirteen grandchildren, Bonnie Wiltz Fairbanks, Holly Wiltz Davis Byron, Ellen Wiltz Satterly, Beth Wiltz Freeman fiance Dave Stanard, Larry Wiltz Peggy, Michael Wiltz Connie, Stephanie Allen Gay Jim, Monte Allen Kim, Kirtley Boudreau, III, Bryan Boudreau Judy, Evelyn Boudreau Wyble Mark, Robert Boudreau and Jeannell Boudreau Casanova Mark, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ennis Kerr and Mary St. Cyr Kerr, widowed by three husbands, Kirtley Boudreau, Charles Clay and Eldridge Amy; two children, Kirtley Boudreau and Donna Sovey; two brothers, Herbert and Clifford Kerr, and eight sisters, Marie Kerr, Pearl Kerr, Lucille Crook, Goldie McMahon, Patricia Chachere, Jerry Mayer Frances Martin and Gertrude Warner.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Visiting hours are also on Sunday, August 30, 2009, starting at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Amys family would like to express appreciation to her friends for their love, prayers and support during her final months. We are most appreciative and grateful to the staff of Prompt Succor Nursing Home for the loving care and many kindnesses shown to Miss Bonnie during her years there.
