Beverly Deshotels

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, November 12, 2018, for Beverly Guillory Deshotels at St. Landry Catholic Church. Reverend Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Deshotels, age 87, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Beverly was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Spencer College Secretarial School and served as board secretary for Hospice of Acadiana for 10 years. She also volunteered her time at the Suicide Hotline as well as Shots for Tots. Beverly will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen G. Deshotels and wife, Cheryl; John Andre Deshotels and wife, Reba; Teddy Paul Deshotels and wife, Sharon; her daughters, Anne Deshotels; Patrice Deshotels; Mary Deshotels Courville and husband, David and her daughter-in-law, Ann Risher Deshotels. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, Kimberly Deshotels, Jamie Pucheu and husband, Philippe; Dr. Matthew Deshotels and wife, Dr. Kirby Davis Deshotels; Stephen G. Deshotels, Jr. and wife, Allison; Devon A. Deshotels; Simon C. Deshotels, John Andre Deshotels, Jr.; Emily Claire Phillip Deshotels; Alexander Luc Phillips Deshotels; Adam P. Fontenot; Joshua C. Fontenot; Jacob Paul Deshotels; Noah Paul Deshotels; Gabrielle Leigh Deshotels; Jackson David Enright Courville; Olivia Grace Courville and eight great-grandchildren, Philippe Emile Pucheu, Aubrey Ann Pucheu, Jules Jourdan Pucheu, Maliki Elliot Deshotels, Allstair Peat Deshotels, Yelana Lakota Deshotels, Brayden Ross Deshotels and Amelia Elizabeth Deshotels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon Bloch Guillory and Marie Tate Guillory; her infant daughter, Elizabeth Deshotels; her son, Dr. Seldon Joseph "Donnie" Deshotels; her granddaughter, Christina Marie Deshotels and her grandson, Nicolas Tate Courville.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Sunday by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will continue Monday, November 12, 2018, from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass.

Pallbearers will be John Andre Deshotels, Jr.; Jackson David Enright Courville, Adam P. Fontenot, Dr. Matthew Deshotels, Stephen G. Deshotels, Jr. and Jacob Paul Deshotels. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Fontenot, Devon Deshotels, Noah Deshotels, Alexander Deshotels and Simon Deshotels.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Acadiana. Her favorite color was red, and her family will honor her by wearing the color red. Feel free to wear your red as well.
